Attention, All Parents! Don’t throw Away That Empty Ink Cartridge! Bring it to Kent Little League Concession Stand! Kent Little League has launched a fundraising project with the help of an inkjet recycling company Empties4Cash. Empty inkjet cartridges can be recycled and remanufactured. KLL will receive up to $4.00 for each cartridge turned in. This will directly benefit KLL and the environment.

You can help! Any inkjet cartridge with a print head can be recycled, regardless of the brand or type. Do you have a HP, Lexmark, Xerox, Compaq, Dell, Canon, or Apple printer? Bring in your empty inkjet cartridges and place in the original box that you would have thrown away to keep it safe from spills and damages, or a Ziploc bag to the concession stand.

KentLL 9/10 AllStar Tryouts will be held on Sat, May 29th. A list of 24 players selected by a tournament committee will be posted on this website at 12:01am (per Little League International guidelines) and will be invited to the tryout. Those invited will need to be at Ryan Brunner Park by 8:00am Sat morning for the approx. 3 hour tryout. Players selected to the 9/10 AllStar will be notified by a phone call from the manager that same day. More details will be given out at the tryout.

KentLL Opening Day is Sat, March 13 at 9:00am at Ryan Brunner Park. Opening Day ceremony includes team parade, opening speech and introductions, sponsors recognition, and last year's AllStar recognition. Following the National Anthem and Little League Pledge, Brian Brunner (Ryan's father) will throw out the first pitch. Team pictures will also be taken on Opening Day as well as Pre-Season and Regular-Season games (depending on Division).

Calling all Tee-Ballers!!! Kent Little League is interested in expanding our league by offering a 5-6 year old Tee-ball division. Our objective is to provide these younger boys and girls with quality Kent Little League coaching while they learn the fundamentals of baseball and experience the value of teamwork. The potential 10-12 game season would most likely run from mid-April to June and be played at Ryan Brunner and/or Crestwood Elementary, with a registration fee around $40 per player.

Before making this leap, we want to determine the level of interest within our community. If you feel Tee-ball is something you would be interested in for the 2010 season or beyond (or would like additional information), please email Ron Stewart, our League focal for this effort, by November 30th with information related to your level of interest and/or the number of children you would be interesting in having participate in Tee-ball.

Stay tuned…the results and decision will be announced in the December newsletter!

2009 Fall Ball: The dust has hardly settled on the 2009 Spring Season and it is already time to start thinking about the 2009 Fall Ball Season. Kent Little League Fall Ball is a great opportunity for new players to experience their first taste of Kent Little League baseball while returning players can continue to keep their skills sharp and practice new skills in preparation for the 2010 Spring Season. This year we are offering two divisions based on players age on April 30, 2010: 9U for 7, 8, 9 year olds and 12U for 10, 11, 12 year olds.

Fall Ball focuses on skills development rather than wins and losses, so scores and standings are not recorded. It is a great opportunity for players to learn the game and develop skills in a more relaxed environment. It’s also perfect for volunteers who have thought about coaching or managing a Little League team, but have been hesitant to step up during the Spring Season when things are a little more competitive. If you have been considering coaching or managing, we welcome and encourage you to give it a try this Fall. It is a rewarding experience you won’t regret. Kent Little League hopes to have teams formed with managers in place by the third week of August so practices can start the week of August 24th. The first games of the Fall Ball season will be played on Saturday, September 12th. In order to meet these dates, we need players’ registrations and managers’ applications no later than the second week of August; the earlier the better! If you have any questions about Kent Little League Fall Ball, please feel free to contact one of the Kent Little League Division Directors, Player Agent, or any other Board of Directors member for more information. Registration is by mail only. Include medical release form with your player’s registration and payment.

Congratulations also to the Diamondbacks managed by Ernie Hernandez for winning 2nd place in the division and in the division tournament. The tournament championship game was quite exciting with the Diamondbacks tying the score in the top of the 6th inning and the Orioles scoring the winning run in the bottom of 6th - congratulations to both teams for a great game and a great season.

Food Drive: KentLL will be collecting non-perishable canned food donations as you enter the KentLL BBQ on Saturday, May 30th. To participate all have to do is bring non-perishable food donations to the BBQ when you check in and you will give you a raffle ticket for the cake walk or dunk tank. All donations will be given to Covington Christian Church and distributed to local families in need.

Game Report Issue: Managers, the KentLL website internet service provider is looking into problems with submitted Game Reports not being properly emailed to the Game Scheduler and the Umpire Scheduler. This problem may have already been fixed or if not is expected to be fixed soon. Please check your division's game schedule/score sheet to see if you might need to resubmit a Game Report. Sorry for the hassle and thanks for your understanding.

BB 9/10 Year Old AllStars Update: Washington state Baseball 9/10 tournament in Vancouver, WA.
Game 5:
The Kent 9/10 All-Star Team placed second in state losing the championship game to the Mercer Island All-Star Team 5-10. Mercer Island, who had defeated Kent to put them in the loser’s bracket, was a hard-hitting team that played solid defense and had several pitchers that mixed it up keeping Kent from delivering the hits they needed to rally for runs like they had in previous games. Jordan Jones had a great outing on the mound and Kent had some great defensive plays by Ethan Lewitt, Jacob Rohweder, Ryan Anderton and Logan Vargus. Shane McGuire and Matthew Mollenberg both pitched in relief for Jordan when he reached his pitch count. Kent put the ball in play, but found it difficult to score off of Mercer Island’s great defensive playing. Kent did score three of their five runs in the fourth inning off of a solo home run from Shane McGuire followed by a double from Matthew Mollenberg, a walk to Eric Engman and singles by Daniel Tanaka and Logan Vargus. The other two runs came in the bottom of the sixth inning with a lead off walk to Isaac Hegamin, a single by Daniel Tanaka and a double in the gap from Garrett Stewart. Kent had a great State tournament and the league is proud of their second place finish. Thanks again to all those who supported Kent both at the field and via the cell phone. Kent had the biggest crowds throughout the tournament and even rivaled the home town team’s supporters. Our league is great! Go Kent!

BB 9/10 Year Old AllStars Update: Washington state Baseball 9/10 tournament in Vancouver, WA.
Game 4:
The Kent 9/10 Year Old All-Star team pulled off a bottom of the 6th win against a tough Richland All-Star team to place Kent in the championship against the Mercer Island All-Star team who Kent must now beat twice to win the state title. The game was one of the most exciting yet. The first two innings were scoreless behind the pitching of Derek Welch, but Richland rallied for 2 runs in the third inning scoring first. Kent did not let the runs get to them though. They answered back with 4 runs off a walk and 4 hits (singles by Logan Vargus, Shane McGuire and Matthew Mollenberg and a triple by Jordan Jones). Richland would not let up and went ahead in the fourth inning scoring 3 runs to put them ahead 5-4. Logan Vargus came in to pitch in relief for Kent after Derek reached his pitch count. They both worked very hard on the mound against a good hitting Richland team. Richland added another run in the fifth inning to make it 6-4. Kent managed to score 1 run in the fifth off a single from Jordan Jones, a walk and some passed balls by the catcher to pull them closer, but Richland answered back in the 6th with another run to make the score 7-5. They had a runner on first with two outs, but Isaac Hegamin made an outstanding pick-off throw to Eric Engman at first to make the third out and shut Richland down. Kent and Richland battled back and forth throughout the game and in the bottom of the 6th, down by two runs, it came down to score 2 or go back to Kent. The Kent All-Stars rallied for 2 runs on two hits (a double by Jacob Rohweder and a single by Daniel Tanaka) a huge walk to Jordan Jones and a SAC fly by Shane McGuire to tie the game and then added one more run on a Richland throwing error to take the win. It was a nail-biter to the end for both sides. The Richland All-Stars were great competitors and it was a tough loss for them. We congratulate their efforts. Each and every one of the Kent All-Star players have worked hard to contribute and get their team to the championship game and will give it all they have to defeat Mercer Island twice to win the state title. Their next game is Sunday at 11:00am and the "if game" (championship game) is on Monday at 5:30pm. Thanks again to all those who have made the trek down to Hazel-Dell. The players appreciate all the support and enjoy seeing their "league family and friends" along with their immediate family and friends. GO KENT!

BB 9/10 Year Old AllStars Update: Washington state Baseball 9/10 tournament in Vancouver, WA.
Game 3:
The Kent Little League 9/10 All-Star Team suffered their first loss yesterday against the undefeated Mercer Island All-Stars. Jordan Jones started off pitching for Kent. He threw 4 innings and reached his pitch count. Jacob Rohweder and Matthew Mollenberg both came in for relief. Kent was down 3-0 in the first inning of the game, but rallied their bats in the 2nd inning with 6 runs off 2 Mercer Island walks and singles from Shane McGuire, Isaac Hegamin, Jacob Rohweder, and a triple over the right fielder's head from Matthew Mollenberg. Mercer Island did not let this 6-3 lead affect them. They chipped away back at Kent scoring one run in the 3rd, two in the fifth to tie it up and then scored the game winning run in the bottom of the 6th. They were a tough team with strong pitchers and steady bats. Although Kent had a few other hits (2 singles from Derek Welch, another single from Shane McGuire, and a double from Eric Engman) Kent missed out on some timely hits they could have scored with, but are confident they can work back through the bracket to the finals. Their next game is Saturday at 11:00am (loser out) followed by a game Sunday (11:00am) and if they win that they would play Monday for the championship to win 9/10 State. Go Kent!

BB 9/10 Year Old AllStars Update: Washington state Baseball 9/10 tournament in Vancouver, WA.
Game 2:
The Kent Little League 9/10 Year Old All-Star Team won their second game late Tuesday night under the lights defeating the undefeated hometown team of Glenwood. The stands were packed on both sides with local fans and family and friends. Behind the starting pitching of Derick Welch (4 innings- 9 strikeouts of 17 batters) and the relief of Logan Vargus and Jacob Rohweder, the Kent team played excellent defense and made some timely plays to hold Glenwood to 3 runs. Kent's offense, although not as dominating as the previous game, came through with some timely hits to outscore their opponents with 10 runs. Logan Vargus was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's, Daniel Tanaka was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI's, Jordan Jones was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and Matthew Mollenberg was 1 for 1 with 1 RBI. Shane McGuire and Derick Welch each added a double for another 3 RBIs. All 10 of Kent's runs were earned. Their next game is Thursday at 5:30pm. GO Kent!

BB 9/10 Year Old AllStars Update: Washington state Baseball 9/10 tournament in Vancouver, WA.
Game 1:
The Kent Little League 9/10 Year Old All-Star Team got off to a great start in the state tournament as they defeated West Seattle Little League All-Stars 27-0 in 3 and a half innings. Jordan Jones pitched a super game striking out 7 of the 14 batters he faced and the rest of the Kent defense behind him did their job to help hold West Seattle scoreless. Kent's offense was explosive! They got off to a pounding start scoring 11 runs in the first inning with 9 hits, 2 of them home runs (a 3 run home run and a grand slam home run) both by Shane McGuire. The second inning at bat for Kent was a little less forceful even though they scored 3 runs, but in the bottom of the third inning, Kent again rallied their bats and exploded for 13 more runs off of 11 hits and several walks. Of special note: Every player on the Kent All-Star team had a hit in the game. Jacob Rohweder and Eric Engman were 4 for 4 and Shane McGuire was 3 for 4. Jordan Jones, Isaac Hegamin and Matthew Mollenberg were 2 for 3 while Daniel Tanaka, Logan Vargus, Ethan Lewitt, Ryan Anderton and Garrett Stewart each added a hit. Kent had a large number of family and friends there to support them and we want to thank each and every one of them. Vancouver is not a quick drive and with the price of gas these days we know not everyone can make it. We know there is support here in Kent and we want to keep everyone up to date so keep checking the website. Kent's next game is Tuesday night at 8:00pm under the lights against the home team Glenwood who has won their first two games. Go Kent!

KentLL BB Manager Marty Hauer: The entire KentLL family is saddened to learn of Manager Marty Hauer passing away on 6/3/2008. Marty fought cancer for a year before losing the battle. Marty was active in KentLL and managed several teams the past few years including the BB Minors AAA Marlins this year. Marty was a Kent Fire Fighter and well known and liked in the community. At the annual KentLL Fund Raiser/Auction this Fri, donations will be accepted to help his family pay off significant medical expenses from the past year. Marty is survived by his wife, Kris, and children, Colton (10) and Rylee (8).

Please join us on June 6 from 6:00-9:00pm at Kentwood High School. Tickets are $7/person or $25/family of 4 (immediate family), $5 for each additional family member.

Game Report Submission Tips: 1) Only home team needs to submit a game report; if you are the visiting team and notice after 2 days that your past game results does not show up in standings, contact the home team manager and ask if s/he has submitted and if not ask them why. 2) When reconciling pitch counts every half inning during a game, be sure to record the pitcher's league age so you can submit a proper and complete game report. 3) If you game was not played due to weather, daylight, lack of players, etc. you must still submit a game report and specify it was not a regulation game so that a makeup game can be scheduled (no game report, no makeup game!).

Calling a Game Reminder: all managers should review KentLL Bylaw rule 7.1.5 about the proper procedure to call a game. Managers cannot call games no sooner than 30 minutes prior to game time; appropriate KentLL board members along with the managers can call a game no sooner than 2 hrs prior to game time. This applies to KentLL fields and not City/County fields which have their own rainout policies.

Annual KentLL Spring Cleanup is Saturday, March 8 at 9am. Each team in all divisions (except BB Juniors and Seniors) will be assigned to tasks at any of four possible locations. CCF, RB, KRF and Calvary Christian South are the focus of our attention this year. Full participation is necessary for completion of all our tasks. The higher the participation, the faster the job will get done. Some prep work will be done on Thurs 3/6 and/or Fri 3/7. We are looking for any volunteers who might be willing to spread some Turface or operate a forklift on one of those days. The specifics are still being worked out. To volunteer on the days leading up to cleanup or learn more about March 8, please contact Fields Director Jay Sesnon.

Hello past, present & future Kent Little League Umpires: We are Barry & Dana Frederick. We are the new Umpire Schedulers for the 2008 Season. This year, in order to break things up and make it a little easier for the Umpire In Chief (UIC), we will be handling all the scheduling & pay duties. Robert (Bob) Delfin will be the UIC handling all other aspects of umpiring.

We have scheduled your Umpire Training as follows:
Classroom will be Monday thru Wednesday, February 25, 26 & 27th. 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Crestwood Elementary School. The address is: 25225 180th Ave. SE in Covington.
This year your UIC has added two additional Training sessions that will focus on working behind the plate (with a catcher). This Training will take place the following Monday & Tuesday, March 3rd & 4th. 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Bull Dogs/Score Sports facility. Bulldogs/Score Sports' address is : 22718 58th Place S.
This being said, we are asking all of you to do two things:
1) Send us an email stating whether or not you are going to umpire this season.
2) When replying, please state weather or not you plan on attending this free Training.
Again this year, there will be pay incentives for each Training session our youth umpires attend. Please keep in mind that without Umpires, Kent Little League cannot be successful. Dana, Barry and Bob are looking forward to hearing from all of you.

KentLL Tryouts: BB Majors and SB Majors/Juniors tryouts are Feb 2 and Feb 9 at Wilson Playfields.
BB Majors tryout times: 10 year olds 9am - 10:15am; 11 year olds 10:30am - 12:30pm, 12 year olds 1pm - 4pm.
SB Majors tryout times are 10am - 11:30am and SB Juniors tryout times are 11:30am - 1pm.
BB Juniors and Seniors tryouts have changed to March 1 & 8. Location for March 1 tryouts is Cedar Heights Middle School and the location for March 8 tryouts is North Meridian Park. BB Junior tryouts are 10am - noon and BB Seniors tryouts are noon - 2pm.

All players should show up at least 30 minutes early to register and warm up!

9/10/11 Year Old Evaluations: all 10 and 11 year old players for the 2008 season MUST attend an evaluation session on January 26 at Wilson Playfield (corner of 248th and 132nd) - showup rain or snow, any changes in location will be made at the field. 10 year olds will be evaluated from 9am - 11am and 11 year olds will be evaluated from 11am - 1pm. 9 year olds wishing to be evaluated for the BB Minors AAA division will be evaluated from 1pm - 2pm. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early to register, warmup, and most importantly HAVE FUN!!! If you have any questions or are unable to attend the evaluation, please email the BB Minors AAA Division Director.

Fall Ball Umpire Training: A brief, 60-90 minute, umpiring tutorial will be held on Saturday, Sept 8th at 8 am on RB2. This tutorial is specifically targeted for Fall Ball Parent volunteer umpires. For Fall Ball, KentLL will be utilizing a parent volunteer from the visiting team for base umpiring duties at all 10U and 12U games. The tutorial is open to all parents who have been designated as an umpire volunteer and any other interested volunteer.

KentLL AllStars Fundraiser: our Baseball Majors AllStars spent a week in Richland, WA and have been in San Bernardino the past week. Living in hotels and eating in restraunts for this length of time gets quite expensive. Top Foods in Kent has generously offered to host a fund raiser to benefit the KentLL AllStars this weekend Aug 11th & 12th from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Saturday and 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. They are going to host a bake sale on Saturday and a bake sale and hot dog cart on Sunday. We are acquiring donations from vendors, but if anyone would like to donate any baked items you may do so and turn into the Top Foods Guest Services counter by 10:30 am this Saturday. Cash donations will also be accepted at the Top Foods Guest Services counter. Please spread the word - let all your friends and family in Kent know about this great gesture that Top Foods is doing for us.

Bill Clutter: It is with great sadness that we received news of Bill Clutter's passing Sunday morning, July 22nd, after fighting a year-long battle with cancer. Bill leaves a wonderful legacy behind. He was a great person, devoted to his players, and a wonderful coach/manager. His sincere interest in seing his players improve their playing skills and enjoy the game of baseball is a great example to all of us. Kent Little League offers it's deepest sympathies to the Clutter family during this time of sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Clutter family.

BB 11 Year Olds AllStars: Congratulations to our BB 11 Year Old AllStars for a 3rd (out of 13 teams) place finish in the Washington State tournament. They finished their run in the state tournament with 5-2 record and outscored their opponents 64 runs to 26 runs in those 7 games. We are proud of these players and coaches of their accomplishment - also, a special thanks to all the fans who cheered them on through the District and State tournaments.

SB Juniors: Congratulations to the Heat, managed by Mike Smith, for winning the KentLL SB Juniors championship and to the Thunder, managed by Pat Henderson, for coming in 2nd place. The championship was not planned to be a season ending tournament but due to rain-outs the last three games ended up deciding the championship. The three games went back and forth and although only one was crowned champions, both teams were worthy of victory. Next on the agenda is forming the SB Juniors AllStar team and making a run at State. Go Kent!

BB Majors (Jayhawks) Win Disrict 10 TOC 2nd Consecutive Year: The Kent JayHawk majors baseball team won the Tournament of Champions last night against Steel Lake 8-2. This is back to back wins in TOC for the JayHawks of Kent. The JayHawks were visitors last night enabling them to score first. Jordan Cowan led off the game with a line drive single. Michael Tanaka then doubled off the wall to score Jordan. The JayHawks went scoreless in the 2nd but came back scoring in the 3rd with a leadoff walk to shortstop Jordan Cowan then a double by 2nd baseman Reese McGuire. 1st baseman Michael Tanaka then hit a screaming single to left center to score Jordan and Reese. In the top of the fourth inning Robert Weston hit a 2 out single, Jordan followed with a double and Reese followed that with a triple to score Robert and Jordan. Steel Lake scored in their half of the 4th with a solo home run. In the 5th inning pitcher Kyle Anderton lead off with a deep solo home run himself to left field. 3rd baseman Tony Madeo hit a hard double and later stole 3rd on a past ball. The 6th inning started off with Reese McGuire hitting a home run to left center field and that was the last run for the JayHawks in the game. Steel Lake added one more run in the bottom of the 6th on a fielders choice. Kyle Anderton pitched a masterful game allowing only 2 runs on 3 hits and facing only 21 batters in 6 innings. The JayHawk defense was fun to watch with some outstanding plays by everyone. The other JayHawks that contributed to the TOC win but not mentioned above are: Brandon Parks, Austin Perlatti, Samuel Burtis, Bryan Mills and Andrew Spring. The JayHawks are coached by Scott McGuire, Curt McGuire and Jerry Cowan. The JayHawks want to thank all the Kent fans for coming to the games. It was a big crowd last night and the players on the JayHawks appreciate that.

BB Majors (Jayhawks) TOC Update: Kent Little League Jayhawks do it again. They won the second game of the TOC beating the undefeated (24-0) Federal Way National team, 6-4. Federal Way scored their first three runs off their first three batters of the game. Kent got off to a slow start and didn't score until the third inning when Jordan Cowan led off with a double and then Reese McGuire was intentionally walked bringing up Michael Tanaka who hit a 2 run single. Kent scored another run in the 4th inning to tie the game when Jordan Cowan scored on a Sam Woods single. Michael Tanaka kept Federal Way scoreless in the second, third and fourth innings. Sam Woods came in to relieve Michael in the 5th inning due to the pitch count rules and shut them down. Jordan Cowan led off the sixth inning with a base on balls, Reese McGuire hit a double, Michael Tanaka was intentionally walked and Sam Woods drew a walk to score the go ahead run. Tony Madeo drew an error from Federal Way's short stop on a hard ground ball to score another Kent run. Brandon Parks brought in the last Kent run of the inning by hitting a hard grounder, fielder's choice to the first baseman. One of the highlights of the game came in the fourth inning when Federal Way's leadoff batter hit a short fly ball to left field that Robert Weston charged full speed and dove for the catch and in the middle of his forward somersault the ball flew out of his mitt into the air and shortstop Jordan Cowan alertly caught the ball before it hit the ground. It was a WebGem of a play! The other highlight of the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning with the tying run on second base for Federal Way and one out. Reese McGuire came in to pitch and struck out the first batter he faced and got a dribbler to Michael Tanaka at second base for the final out of the game. Kent advances to the championship game on Tuesday at 6:00pm at Sacagawea Park in Federal Way. Come out and cheer the Jayhawks on!!! If they win it will be back to back TOC wins for the Jayhawks and Kent Little League.

Attention parents of BB Minors AA players as you are well aware your main practice field, Calvary Chapel South, is in dire need of repair. Many of you have expressed safety concerns and frustration of having to use this field. Your KentLL Board of Directors has looked at alternatives such as moving practices to other fields, but the fact of the matter is that there is not an adequate number of alternative practice fields available. The best option is to repair CCS - just a few years ago, CCS was in very good condition and we actually played many BB Minors A/AA games there. The reason there appears to have been no action from the KentLL Board in regards to CCS, is that all Board members are maxed out fulfilling Board responsibilities and coaching/managing their teams, as well as trying to keep their families and employers happy. So, what we need is for someone to volunteer to head up the CCS work party; responsibilities would include surveying the field and making a list of things to do at the work party. KentLL will provide all materials (weed/grass killer, infield mix,etc.) and equipment (back hoe, drags, etc.) needed for the work party. If a volunteer comes forward quickly, we can target the CCS work party for Sat morning, May 5th and move all morning games to the afternoon. Based on the great success of the recent work parties at Ryan Brunner Park and Covington Christian Fellowship Park, the work could easily been done in 2 - 3 hours with 100 adults (10 parents from each of the 10 teams) working on the field. To ensure success, the work must be well planned and coordinated so that materials and equipment arrive on time and that assignments are made and executed. Please contact BB Minors AA Director, Andy Monson, if you would like to volunteer to organize and lead this work party. PS: everyone will be expected to participate in the work party, right now we are just looking for one or more individuals to organize and lead it.

Service Club Ballfields rules have been added to fields page of KentLL website. Please take special note of the following:
Teams may have pre-game batting practice only under these circumstances:
- Parks Maintenance Staff not working on the Infield.
- The Batter must be located in foul territory of the Infield.
- The Pitcher must be located in the infield (stay off the grass).
- Pitcher/Batter must be on the dirt part of the Infield.
- Absolutely no Batting Practice from the grass areas of the Field.

No hitting into fences with baseballs or softballs (whiffle balls and/or tennis balls are allowed). Coaches/Players must be in cinder area of the outfield.

Climbing on the fences prohibited.

SNACK PARENTS
Do you run to the local grocery store at the last minute because it is your week for snack? Do you wish there was an easier option? THERE IS!!! We will be stocking “snack packs” in the concession stands for your convenience all season long!

Snack Packs are prepackaged team snacks containing one beverage item and one snack item for each player on your team. Snack Packs will sell for $15 through the concession stand and proceeds will benefit the league.

Snack Packs will contain 12 beverage items and 12 snack items. Currently being stocked in the concessions stands are packs of Propel Waters and Cookies or Gatorades and Krispy Treats.

Is your game at a field other than CCF or Ryan Brunner? Pick up your snack pack during the week and keep it in your refrigerator at home till game time! Do your players like cold Gatorades or Propel Waters? Bring a cooler with ice and purchase your snack pack while your players are warming up. In your cooler, your beverages will be cold by the time your game is over and your players will be VERY HAPPY!!!

The choice is yours how you present your snacks, but be sure to support Kent Little League and purchase your teams’ snacks through the concession stands this year!!!

Become a KentLL Umpire: we are looking for volunteer adult umpires as well as (paid) teen-aged umpires. Experience is not necessary and KentLL will provide training and equipment. Please contact Umpire-in-Chief, Jerry DiLeonardo, for more information.
KentLL Umpire Rules and Mechanics Clinics will be held Feb 26, Feb 27, Feb 28, Mar 5, and Mar 6 at Crestwood Elementary School from 6:00 - 8:30pm. Different material dealing with rules, mechanics and situations will be presented at each session. The training will be facilitated by very experienced and highly qualified veteran umpires. All returning umpires are highly encouraged to attend. Attendance for New Umpires is mandatory. Excused absences will be handled on a case by case basis.

Attention all 10 and 11 year old players registered to play in BB Minors AAA for the 2007 season. A new rule goes into affect this year that requires all registered BB Minors AAA players to attend an evaluation on Feb 3 and/or Feb 10 at Wilson Playfields from 4:00 - 6:00pm (attending both evaluation sessions is recommended). The purpose of the evaluation is to evaluate all players so that teams can be formed based on an equal distribution of talent to help increase parity between all teams during the season. Call for 2007 KentLL Managers! If you wish to be a manager in any KentLL division, please complete the LL volunteer application and the manager application and email it to the appropriate Division Director.

If you are interested in being considered for a BB Major's manager position for 2007, please fill out the application form available on this site, and email as an attachment to Mike Costanzo, Major's division director, no later than November 20th. Interviews will be held the week of November 27th. Please note that to apply for a BB Major's manager position, you must have a minimum of one year in KentLL as a manager of a BB Minors AA or AAA team, or 2 years as a listed coach in BB Minors AA or AAA, or one year as a coach in the BB Major's division. Equivalent experience in a LL organization other than KentLL may also be acceptable, pending board approval.

BB Minors AAA Tournament Championship update: The tournament championship game between the Indians and Pirates scheduled for 6/1 has been rained out and is rescheduled for Sat, 6/3, 2pm at RB1. At 1:45pm trophies will be awarded to the following regular season champs: American Conference Athletics (1st place) and Orioles (2nd place); National Conference Padres (1st place) and Pirates (2nd place). Following the tournament championship game, medallions will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place tournament teams.

Attention all 9 & 10 year old baseball players invited to tryout for the AllStar team: 1st tryout session is Fri, 6/2/2006, 5:30 - 8:00pm at RB1. Fri night a cut will be made and players invited to the Sat tryouts will be posted on this website. Sat tryout starts at 9 am and should be finished by 1:30pm (show up 30 minutes early to all tryout sessions). REVISION: SAT MORNING TRYOUTS WILL START AT 8:00AM AND END AROUND 12:30PM.

Spaghetti Feed Silent Auction Fundraiser on May 6
KentLL's annual fundraiser for the Vision Fund will be a spaghetti feed and silent auction on May 6 from 6 - 9pm at Kentwood High School. The purpose of this fundraiser is to put away money for future field acquisition and/or a major field improvement (e.g., lights). Last year we had a wildly successful dinner and live/silent auction at Emerald Downs; this year we opted for a more family friendly event. Please support the improvement of KentLL with donations to your team auction basket and by coming out to the spaghetti feed!

Mandatory Safety Meeting on 4/21 for all managers.
All managers are required to attend the annual safety meeting which will begin at 6:15pm on April 21 in the Kentridge High School gym. The safety meeting should last about 30 minutes and will be immediately followed by a managers meeting. Only excused absence is if your team has a makeup game scheduled in which case you will be required to attend a video tape recording of the session on April 22, 7pm at Roundtable Pizza.

Baseball Majors Tryout Information

All 10 and 11 year old players wishing to tryout for a Baseball Majors team are welcome, and strongly encouraged to attend BOTH tryout dates. Players who will be league age 12 (12th birthday before April 30th, 2006), and not already a titled Baseball Majors player, MUST attend at least one of the try-out dates to be eligible to play in Kent Little League this year. Arrive 20 minutes early to register and warmup. Try-out dates, locations and times are as follows:

The KentLL fundraiser for players this year is to sell cookie/pizza dough. Complete info will be distributed by managers at their initial team meetings - here is a preview. Each player will be required to sell a total 15 items of cookie and/or pizza dough. There will be prizes for selling more than this amount. All sales are done by taking orders (and receiving payments) during a 2 week period early in the season. A delivery date will be determined where a representative from each team will meet at a designated spot to receive product for their team and they should then arrange a spot to meet all their team to distribute the product; each player/parent should then deliver the product to each purchaser - the product is perishable and must be kept frozen at all time. This is a great fundraiser, but it requires close coordination when the product is delivered.

Baseball Majors Division 2006

Due to a change in work schedule, Mark Schmidt, who had been selected to manage the Patriots for 2006, has unfortunately had to withdraw from his manager position. KentLL would like to wish Mark the best, and thank him for all the time and effort he has given KentLL over the years. With that said, Robbie Mullikin will now manage the Patriots in 2006, and Larry Jones will take the reigns of the Mustangs this coming season. All other manager positions will remain as outlined in the December newsletter. The determination as to whether the BB Major’s division will be expanded for 2006, will be made immediately following open registration (Jan. 24th & 25th). Please note the returning player registration dead line is January 18th!

New players can complete the registration form and bring Open Registration.
