Game 1: 6/29/2007 (rained out) -> 6/30/2007 The Juniors win their first tournament game, beating Federal Way American 6-5. Kent started off slow, not scoring until the 4th inning. In the 4th inning Cameron Bogle draws a lead off walk and stolen base, followed by Spencer Herron with a walk and stolen base. Kevin Clutter and Joel Firman provide clutch base hits to get Kent on the board. Going into the 7th Kent still trailed 5-3. Sam Vogel leads off with a strong single and steals 2nd base. Sam then scores on a wild pitch. Spencer Herron and Taylor Jones both have great at bats drawing back to back walks. Bryce Williams comes in to "pinch run" for Spencer Herron. With runners on 1st and 2nd, and 1 out, Kevin Clutter provides another clutch single to load the bases. Next at the plate is Joel Firman, who executes a perfect squeeze bunt, catching Federal Way off guard scoring Bryce Williams tying the game... Joel then hustles to first base beating out the throw! The game now tied, bases still loaded and only one out... Michael Parrott comes to the plate. Michael follows up with another excellent 1st pitch squeeze bunt, scoring Taylor Jones to put Kent ahead 6-5! Taylor Jones pitched an excellent game, allowing only 3 earned runs. With Taylor close to maximum pitch count, Spencer Herron came in to close the game. Spencer had to face the top of Federal Way's line-up, with only 5 pitches they went down 1, 2, 3. Congratulations to the Kent Juniors! The next game is Monday at 7:30 PM. |
