Kent Little League Board Of Directors

The Kent Little League is comprised of an all-volunteer group of parents and community members whose goal is to manage the business operation of the organization and strive to enrich the development of players and the enjoyment of baseball and fastpitch for the area's youth and families.

If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to volunteer or join the Board of Directors, please contact the Board President or Secretary. Member families of Kent Little League are invited to attend any of the Board's open meetings. The meeting schedule can be found on the home page.

Board Position Descriptions


President

  • Oversees league operations and enforces Little League policies

  • Acts as primary point of contact with District, sponsors, and local agencies

  • Conducts and manages volunteer background checks

  • Leads board meetings and league planning efforts

Vice President

  • Oversees specific programs or initiatives as assigned

  • Coordinates with board members in preparing and proposing a list of all divisional Managers for President's selection and Board approval

  • Oversees all Manager/Coach activities

  • Coordinates with and assists the Player Agent in conducting all drafts and/or selection of all teams.

  • Coordinates with the Safety Officer and Caretaker in making sure that all safety issues are addressed.

  • Coordinates with the Safety Officer and the Player Agent to ensure that all managers, coaches and players at all levels are receiving proper instruction.

  • Assists the President in overseeing all Post-season tournaments 

  • Assists the President and assumes duties in their absence

  • Helps coordinate league operations and supports division needs

Secretary

  • Records and maintains minutes of board meetings

  • Manages official league correspondence and documentation

  • Ensures league records and contacts are current

Treasurer

  • Manages league finances, including budgets, payments, and reporting

  • Tracks income and expenses, ensuring transparency and accountability

  • Files annual tax documents and financial reports

  • Reports on status of League funds.

  • Keeps League books and financial records.

  • Assumes responsibility for all League finances.

Player Agent

  • Oversees player registration, age/eligibility verification, and team assignments

  • Handles player issues and works to ensure fair play

  • Manages All-Star eligibility and player documentation

Safety Officer

  • Coordinates league safety plan and ensures compliance with safety protocols

  • Conducts Annual safety orientation training

  • Coordinates first aid training for all coaches

  • Coordinates annual field safety walks and ensures critical repairs are completed prior to start of season

  • Ensures all required safety suppliers are available and provided to all coaches

  • Collects and reviews injury reports for injury prevention

  • Tracks and manages abuse awareness training for volunteers

Coaching Coordinator

  • Recruits and supports team managers and coaches

  • Organizes coaching clinics and shares league expectations

  • Acts as liaison between coaches and the board

Umpire-in-Chief (UIC)

  • Recruits, trains, and schedules umpires

  • Ensures consistency in rule interpretation and umpire conduct

  • Acts as primary contact for umpire-related issues

Equipment Manager

  • Manages inventory, distribution, and collection of league gear

  • Ensures equipment is safe and in good condition

  • Oversees uniform ordering and distribution

  • Maintains list of inventory and provides board with budget requirements for next season

Field Coordinator / Grounds Manager

  • Oversees field maintenance and readiness for each season

  • Plans and oversees season field clean up day

  • Develops policies and procedures for field maintenance, pre-post game setup

  • Manages all equipment and assets to ensure in good working order and coordinates repairs as needed

Challenger Director – Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Challenger Division, ensuring an inclusive, supportive environment for players with physical and/or intellectual challenges

  • Coordinate registration and eligibility for Challenger participants
    Recruit, train, and support volunteers and coaches specifically for the Challenger program

  • Develop and manage game schedules tailored to Challenger players’ needs

  • Ensure equipment and fields are properly adapted for Challenger activities

  • Serve as primary contact for families of Challenger players, addressing questions and concerns

  • Promote awareness and inclusion of the Challenger program within the league and community

  • Ensure compliance with Little League Challenger guidelines and safety protocols

  • Collaborate with other board members to integrate Challenger events into league-wide activities and celebrations

Registrar – Responsibilities

  • Manage player registration process, including collecting and organizing registration forms and fees

  • Verify player eligibility and age requirements according to Little League rules

  • Maintain accurate player and family contact records in the league database

  • Coordinate with the Player Agent to ensure proper team assignments and eligibility compliance

  • Respond to registration inquiries from families promptly and professionally

  • Distribute registration information and deadlines through communication channels

  • Prepare and submit required registration reports to Little League International and district officials

  • Assist with processing refunds or transfers as needed

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of player information

Concessions Manager / Assistant

  • Oversees concession stand operations and scheduling

  • Manages inventory, pricing, and volunteer staffing

  • Ensures proper food handling and cleanliness

  • Develops standard operating procedures and conducts volunteer training

Social Media Coordinator – Responsibilities

  • Manage and update the league’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)

  • Create and share engaging content including game highlights, player spotlights, event announcements, and photos

  • Respond to comments and messages in a timely and positive manner

  • Promote league events, registration, fundraising, and sponsorship opportunities through social platforms

  • Coordinate with Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure consistent messaging and branding

  • Monitor social media trends and recommend new strategies to increase engagement

  • Ensure content is appropriate, respectful, and aligned with Little League values

  • Help grow the league’s online community and encourage family and player participation

Sponsorship Coordinator

  • Identify and recruit local sponsors to support the league through financial or in-kind contributions

  • Develop sponsorship packages that outline benefits (e.g., banners, website ads, uniform logos)

  • Maintain relationships with sponsors, ensuring timely communication and fulfillment of sponsor agreements

  • Collect sponsor materials such as logos and signage, and coordinate placement at fields and online

  • Work with the Treasurer to track sponsor payments and ensure proper documentation

  • Ensure sponsor recognition in league communications, events, and social media
    Create and update a sponsor database to track contact info, contribution history, and renewal dates

  • Coordinate sponsor appreciation efforts, such as thank-you letters, plaques, or end-of-season acknowledgments

  • Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager when events include sponsor involvement or cross-promotion

Fundraising Coordinator

  • Plan and organize fundraising campaigns to support league operations, equipment, and scholarships

  • Coordinate with sponsors and local businesses for donations, partnerships, and event support

  • Lead major fundraising events, such as hit-a-thons, raffles, auctions etc.

  • Promote fundraising efforts through flyers, email, social media, and team communications

  • Track and report fundraising progress to the board, including revenue and participation

  • Ensure compliance with Little League and local regulations for fundraising and raffles

  • Collaborate with other board members (e.g., Treasurer, Communications Officer) to align messaging and financial tracking

  • Maintain a calendar of fundraising activities and deadlines throughout the year

Information Officer / Communications Coordinator

  • Manages league website

  • Coordinates with board members to maintain news feeds, sponsorship announcements etc.

Grant Coordinator – Responsibilities

  • Identify grant opportunities from Little League International, local governments, corporations, and nonprofits

  • Research eligibility requirements and ensure the league qualifies before applying

  • Prepare and submit grant applications, including gathering supporting documents and writing narratives

  • Track deadlines, submissions, and award notifications for all grants

  • Coordinate with the Treasurer to provide accurate financial data and budgets for grant proposals

  • Work with board members to align grant applications with league needs (e.g., equipment, field upgrades, scholarships.

  • Maintain records of past grant applications, awards, and reporting requirements

  • Ensure timely reporting and compliance for awarded grants, including outcomes and financial use

  • Develop relationships with grant organizations to stay informed on future opportunities

Volunteer Manager – Responsibilities

  • Recruit volunteers for key league roles (e.g., coaches, team parents, concessions, field crew, events)

  • Coordinate volunteer assignments based on league needs and individual skills/interests

  • Maintain a volunteer database, including contact info, roles, and availability

  • Track and ensure completion of background checks and required training (e.g., Abuse Awareness)

  • Communicate regularly with volunteers about schedules, responsibilities, and expectations

  • Support team managers in filling game-day and team-specific volunteer needs

  • Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions, including end-of-season thank-yous or events

  • Work with other board members (e.g., Safety Officer, Concessions, Events) to meet volunteer staffing needs

  • Promote a positive volunteer culture that supports the league’s mission and values

Scheduler – Responsibilities

  • Create and manage season schedules for practices, regular season games, playoffs, and All-Stars

  • Coordinate schedule creation across the District for all divisions

  • Assign fields and times across divisions

  • Work with the Assistant Scheduler, division coordinators, and team managers to resolve conflicts

  • Schedule umpires in coordination with the Umpire-in-Chief 

  • Update and publish schedules in league platforms

  • Support scheduling for special events, such as Opening Day, tournaments, or ceremonies

  • Communicate schedule changes to all affected parties, including teams, umpires, and concessions

Assistant Scheduler – Responsibilities

  • Support the League Scheduler in creating and maintaining practice and game schedules

  • Assist with field assignments based on team availability, division needs, and field capacity

  • Help input and update schedules in league systems 

  • Coordinate between scheduler and coaches on schedule conflicts, makeup games, and special requests

  • Monitor field usage to ensure optimal and fair distribution among teams

  • Support scheduling for tournaments, special events, and All-Star practices

  • Track rainouts and reschedule games as needed, in coordination with the Scheduler and Field Coordinator

  • Attend scheduling meetings or planning sessions as needed during the season

Marketing & Communications Manager – Responsibilities

  • Promote league activities and programs to the community, including player registration, special events, and fundraisers

  • Develop and manage communication channels, including email, social media, website, and printed materials

  • Create consistent, engaging content to inform and excite families, players, and volunteers

  • Coordinate with other board members to ensure timely communication of schedules, updates, and key information

  • Highlight sponsors and community partners across league platforms

  • Support marketing campaigns for player recruitment, volunteer sign-ups, and fundraising drives

  • Maintain the league’s website with up-to-date news, schedules, and documents

  • Serve as the league’s media contact for press releases and community outreach

  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all platforms and materials

  • Capture and share photos and stories from games and events to boost community engagement

Player Development Coordinator – Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee player development programs focused on skill improvement and baseball fundamentals

  • Organize clinics, training sessions, and workshops for players of all ages and skill levels

  • Collaborate with coaches to provide drills, practice plans, and coaching resources

  • Identify player needs and recommend additional training or resources when appropriate

  • Support manager and coach development by coordinating coaching education and certification opportunities

  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and player safety as key development goals

  • Coordinate with Player Agent to monitor player progress and ensure balanced team placements

  • Evaluate program effectiveness and suggest improvements based on feedback and player performance

  • Assist with All-Star and tournament player preparation as needed
